New York Guardsmen Aid Afghan Villagers

New York Army National Guard Sgt. 1st Class Brian Coons, speaks to Mohamed Faroq ? one of the Khvajeh Ghar Village spokesmen ? to gather sewer, water, electric, academics, and trash data relating to the town. Coons, with the New York Army National Guard?s 106th Regional Training Institute, planned the early morning mission. ?It helps to search out the village elders first,? said Coons, 42, from Pine Plains, N.Y. ?It sets a positive tone for the relationship.
