Moving Out With MRAP's

A Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle operated by a New York Army National Guard Police Mentoring Team from Combined Joint Task Force Phoenix lines up for a convoy movement from the Camp Phoenix Motor Pool.
The team is commanded by CPT Richard Redmond from Utica and the NCO in charge is SFC Robert Marshall from Watertown. They are members of the 27th Brigade Combat Team, New York Army National Guard. About 1,700 members of the New York Army National Guard are deployed to Afghanistan training the Afghan National Army and Police.
The MRAP vehicle offers increased survivability over the M-1114 armored humvee. The Army recently received its 10,000th MRAP.
