Fallen Guardsman Honored by NYPD and Military

New York City--Major General Joseph Taluto, the Adjutant General and Commander of the New York National Guard and Brig. Gen. Paul Genereux, Jr., the commander of the 42nd Infantry Division (Center) salute as the remains of New York Army National Guard Sgt. Deon Taylor pass by during funeral observances on Thursday, Nov. 6.
Taluto and Genereux joined other Army and New York Police Department dignitaries, include Police Commissioner Ray Kelly and New York City Major Michael Bloomberg, at Manhattan's Riverside Church to honor Taylor.
Taylor, a member of the New York Police Department since 2005, and the Army National Guard since 2001, was killed in action in Afghanistan on October 22 when an improvised explosive device destroyed his humvee. He was deployed with the 27th Brigade Combat Team which is training the Afghan National Army and Police
