Air Guard Water Survival Training

NIAGARA FALLS--Members of the New York Air National Guard’s 136th Airlift Squadron float in the waters of Lake Ontario during a biannual training exercise that teaches aircrew water survival skills in the event of an in-water- emergency.
Aircrew members practiced deploying signal devices, such as smoke flares, beacons and flare guns and then took a short ride compliments of the United States Coast Guard, Station Niagara, to deploy their life vests and swim to the awaiting life raft where they mastered entry techniques and deployment of the protective canopy.
