Army Guard Leader Visits Wounded Warriors

WASHINGTON -- New York Army National Guard Brig. Gen. Steven Wickstrom, commander of the National Guard’s 42nd Infantry Division, greets Spc. Ryan Braman during a visit to Walter Reed Army Medical Center Sept. 16. Wickstrom and Command Sgt. Maj. Robert Jenks were at Walter Reed to meet with wounded Soldiers from the division’s combat brigades from New York, New Jersey and New England aligned for training with the 42nd Infantry Division. Braman, a Soldier from the 101st Airborne Division from Lafayette, Ind. wears a Boston Red Sox baseball t-shirt, which caught the attention of Wickstrom, an Upton, Mass. resident. Wickstrom learned that Braman’s ties to the Red Sox extend to a friendship with Casey Fisk of Byron Center, Mi., son of the former Red Sox great Carlton Fisk. Courtesy photo.
