National Guard Sustains Support in NYC

NEW YORK -- New York Army National Guard Pfc. Mimmo Pirrone, an aircraft structural repairer with Company B, 642nd Aviation Support Battalion, distributes flashlights and batteries to local residents in Queens over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, Nov. 25. Nearly 750 Citizen Soldiers of the New York Army National Guard remain deployed in New York City helping residents recover from the aftermath of hurricane Sandy. At its peak, more than 5,000 Soldiers, Airmen, Naval Militia Sailors, Marines and New York Guard volunteers have been on duty to assist in the relief efforts. U.S. Army photo by Master Sgt.
