109th Airlift Wing heading for South Pole

An LC-130 Skibird assigned to the New York Air National Guards 109th Airlift Wing takes off from Stratton Air National Guard Base in Scotia N.Y. on Monday October 28 2019 en route to McMurdo Station Antarctica. The trip will take approximately one week. The 109th which supports the U.S. Antarctic Program each year as part of the militarys Operation Deep Freeze will deploy five aircraft to Antarctica.
